C.D. Hayes, rider of Johann Bach trained by Patrick G. Harney, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount didn't handle the ground.

T.P. Madden, rider of Escape Clause, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran freely early on and stopped quickly.
